Nichols registered a win at The Pond by beating the Carmel Apples, 4-1. Pitcher Roy Weareorwear was one reason why the Gnats triumphed. Weareorwear yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-1. Junzo Yamabe got the save, the 19th for him this season.
