Sting Fall to River Bandits Late
|
The San Antonio River Bandits faced a tough opponent in Houston pitcher Danny Umanzor, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Woodland Park by a final score of 5-3. Umanzor went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. San Antonio reliever Tyrese Jackson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Tim Wulff absorbed the loss. Rusty Campbell collected save number 19.
San Antonio took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Jeff Eaton hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the River Bandits in front, 5-3.
San Antonio manager Lemn Onkwani was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
The victory gives San Antonio a record of 44-37.
