Crosscutters Rally For Late Win Over Jedi Knights
|
Williamsport rode a good effort from starter Mel Velasquez to beat the New Orleans Jedi Knights at The Republic. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Velasquez, now 2-2. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 10. Jesus Miranda earned the save, his 2nd, for the Crosscutters.
The Crosscutters got a big at-bat from first baseman Rodolfo Vigil, who in the top of the eighth hit a run-scoring single. It was his 37th hit of the season and put the Crosscutters on top, 4-2.
"Nervous? No," said Velasquez. "It was my time to shine."
The losing skid has reached 7 games for New Orleans.
