The Chippewa River Chiefs withstood a fine game by Oconomowoc shortstop Alex Vega at Arnold Field, to upend the Five O's, 5-4. Vega hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ralph Elliott was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Jimmy Kennedy. The victory gives the River Chiefs a record of 42-35.

Chippewa took advantage of an error in the top of the 11th inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Jeff Spain hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the River Chiefs in front, 5-4.

"This game tested our mettle," said Spain.
