Victory Pushes Vikings Record to 55-30
|
The St. Petersburg Pelicans got a superb performance from pitcher Jeff Sanders, but the Dublin Vikings still won the game, 6-5. Sanders was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Justin Gore, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held the Pelicans to 4 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Chris Lowry notched his 22nd save in 25 chances.
The Vikings got a big boost from right fielder Josh Stafford who had a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning off Pelicans hurler Ken Harper. It was his 13th home run of the season and put Dublin on top, 6-4.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Stafford told the Dublin Today.
Dublin leads the RCLA Dusty Baker Division by 10 games.
