Dancin' Outlaws Fall Short, 1-0, at Brisbane
|
Right-hander Jonathan Gomez mesmerized the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws while leading the Brisbane Bush Wackers to a 1-0 victory. Gomez got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 1 hit and walked 4 over 6 innings. Gomez allowed no earned runs. Brisbane's record now stands at 37-46, placing them last in the RCLA Dusty Baker Division.
With runs few and far between, the Bush Wackers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Brisbane came in the bottom of the first inning, when left fielder Manuel Mercado delivered a run-scoring double. The double was hit off Carlos Avila and made the score 1-0, Bush Wackers. Mercado was 2 for 4 with a double.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gomez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
