Lake Monsters Come Up Short at Chippewa

Chippewa first baseman Vic Reyes was a significant contributor in his team's 4-3 triumph over the Okanagan Lake Monsters. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times for Chippewa. Chippewa reliever David Conley picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Jesse Boulware was saddled with the loss. Gil Ruelas got credit for the save for Chippewa. It was his 23rd of the year.
Everton Hofland had a go-ahead double for Chippewa in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out and a runner on 1st, the 20-year old third baseman hit a run-scoring double off Jesse Boulware. His 20th double of the season made the score 4-3.
"Both teams played hard," said Chippewa manager Clayton O'Neil.
Chippewa improves to 50-36 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
