Panthers Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
Charleston beat Brownsville at Franklin Mountains Field, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to catcher Kasey Mayo. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Charleston reliever Jose Suarez picked up the win to move to 1-0. Tyrese Jackson suffered the loss. Andy Brown earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Mayo had a timely hit for Charleston in the bottom of the eighth. With Charleston trailing 3-1, he turned a 2-1 cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Charleston.
In postgame remarks, Mayo applauded his team's "business-like approach."
The loss makes Brownsville 39-46.
