Bandits Win with Late Rally
|
The Carmel Apples got a whale of a performance from pitcher Willis Paulino, but the Brownsville Bandits still prevailed, 2-1, in 14 innings. Paulino threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Brownsville reliever Drew Sherman snagged the win, upping his record to 4-3. Andy Johnson shouldered the loss. Brownsville is now 31-42, while Carmel is 42-31.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ryan Quigley in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a solo home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Johnson to win the game for Brownsville. The home crowd went nuts.
"Our fans made themselves heard," said Quigley.
