Loss to Dancin' Outlaws Extends Brisbane Losing Streak
|
The Brisbane Bush Wackers got a sterling performance from center fielder Francisco Delgado, but the Dancin' Outlaws still prevailed, 7-6. Delgado was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. West Virginia reliever Harry Howell picked up the win to move to 2-3. Angelo Zuniga suffered the loss. The slumping Bush Wackers have dropped 7 in a row.
In the top of the ninth, West Virginia designated hitter Corey Boelke had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Boelke stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 7-6, West Virginia. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Boelke told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
