With 6-4 Win, Apples Improve to 46-37
|
The Carmel Apples picked up a win at BLM Stadium, dropping the Kingwood Knights, 6-4. Tetsuhiro Nitta, who is tied for 6th in the RHA with a 1.28 WHIP, was the difference-maker. Nitta picked up the win for Carmel, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 9-4. The Apples, at 46-37, lead by one game in their division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Mike Baugh was at the plate when Carmel scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Apples to go in front, 5-4.
"Tetsuhiro was bobbing and weaving the whole game," said Carmel manager Dale Spain.
