Barrels Grind Out 1-0 Win
|
Tom Novak was superb against San Antonio. The right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the RA in wins with 7, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Barrels victory. The score was 1-0. The winner was Novak. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Sam Marshall. Niagara Falls is 43-27 and San Antonio, with the loss, 38-32.
The Barrels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jim Brereton. For the game, Brereton went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Niagara Falls a 1-0 lead.
"Tom pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Niagara Falls manager Mike Bouffard.
