Apples Rally For Late Win Over Mustangs
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Carmel Apples and the San Angelo Mustangs. Carmel won it, 3-1. Carmel starter Willis Paulino was in command. Carmel reliever Willis Paulino, who is tied for 10th in the TA in wins with 6, was credited with the win. His record goes to 6-1. Juan Sandoval took the loss for San Angelo. The Apples now have a mark of 41-27.
Carmel won the game in part because of Ray Harder. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Apples ahead, 3-1. For the game, Harder had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Paulino told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
