Pelicans in Free Fall, Lose 16th Straight
|
The Marshall Lawmen topped the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 6-3, in 12 innings. Marshall first baseman Dave Moorman, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Antonio Vazquez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Now 8-56, St. Petersburg has dropped 16 games in a row.
Moorman had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 2-1 changeup from Carlos Moreno, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Lawmen a 6-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Moorman.
In postgame remarks, Moorman simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
