Apples Throttled by Saints, 5-1
|
Starting pitcher Rogelio Iglesias did his part in helping the St. Paul Saints thwart the Carmel Apples, 5-1. Iglesias, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Picking up the save was Chris Hill, his 10th.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Pedro Marquez? The St. Paul catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Saints on top, 1-0. For the game, Marquez had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
St. Paul manager attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
The last-place Saints hiked their record to 29-45.
