Down to Defeat Goes Nichols, 9-2
The game between Moonbeam and Nichols is in the books, despite a little rain.

The Moonbeam Martians beat the Nichols Gnats, 9-2, at The Pond. Ricky Contreras went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The 22-year old left fielder was a menace to Nichols all day. Moonbeam is now 59-15.

Contreras had a key at-bat for Moonbeam in the top of the second. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and gave Moonbeam an early 3-0 lead.

Said losing manager Mike Nevil: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
