Montreal right-hander Greg Spivey pitched his team to victory over the Hawaii Honu at Aloha Stadium. The final score was 9-3. The Honu, now 29-27, have lost 5 straight.

Gene Johnson had a big 2-run double for the Mounties in the top of the eighth inning. With Montreal leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jacob Spitler and swatted a double to left. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mounties ahead, 5-2.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Montreal manager Thomas Hughes. "That's what Greg is right now."
