The Carmel Apples stymied the Charleston Panthers, 5-2, at BLM Stadium. Dave Hyde had a good day at the plate. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Carmel. Carmel reliever Juan Aldana picked up the win, raising his record to 5-6. Alex Zavala was tagged with the loss. Jeff Gamble was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Ben Aldridge was at the plate when Carmel scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Apples to go in front, 2-1.

"It was a solid team effort," said Aldridge after the game.

Carmel is now 34-38. Charleston is 19-55.
