The El Paso Mavericks knocked off the Seattle Sasquatch, 7-2, in Roberto Clemente League action at Sasquatch Field at Brewbaker Family Memorial Stadium. El Paso pitcher and Arecibo, Puerto Rico, native Edwin Serna had an outstanding performance. The win puts the Mavericks at 27-22, while the Sasquatch drop to 22-27.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tyler Pate? The El Paso shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Mavericks on top, 1-0. For the game, Pate had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We take it day by day here," said Pate, "and today was a good one for us."
