Civics Best Mustangs in Pitching Duel
|
The Ottawa Civics got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bill Stevenson, who muffled the San Angelo offense en route to a tight, 2-0 Civics win at Civics Field. Stevenson picked up the win for Ottawa, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. Victor Valdez picked up the save, his 2nd.
Sam Spurr chipped in a solo home run for Ottawa in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"Bill -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Civics manager Eduardo Rosário. "He was the key to us winning."
The 6th-place Civics hiked their record to 26-37.
