The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the Williamsport Crosscutters, 6-4, with left fielder Hideiichi Murakami playing a big role. Murakami was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He scored 3 times for the River Chiefs in the win. Chippewa reliever Ramiro Ramos was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. David Torres took the loss for Williamsport. Williamsport's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Chippewa used the timely hitting of Everton Hofland to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Chiefs on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hofland said.
