Sting Edge Birdwings, 2-1
|
Hazleton pitcher Jesus Alicea gave the Sting all they could handle, but in the end, Houston left Woodland Park with a win, 2-1. Alicea allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings. Nelson Zermeno picked up the save, his 15th. The Sting now own a record of 29-32.
The Sting got a big boost from first baseman Rick Atherton who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Birdwings hurler Jesus Alicea. It was his 23rd RBI of the season and put Houston on top, 1-0.
"It was a good effort all around," said Atherton.
