Warriors Win with Late Heroics
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Nut House.
The Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Brownsville Bandits, 6-5, in 16 innings. Moose Jaw shortstop B.J. Dawson, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2 for 3 with a double, while adding 4 RBI. Vincent Cesena snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Tom Hughes suffered the loss.
The Warriors got a clutch hit from catcher Tim Callahan. In the bottom of the 16th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Warriors.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Warriors manager Darby Caples.
The win hiked the Moose Jaw record to 38-23.
