Gilliland Powers Eclipse to 9-3 Win
The Chicago Eclipse defeated the Pennsylvania Butterflies, 9-3. Shortstop Larry Gilliland deserved a large share of the credit. Gilliland was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times for the Eclipse. The Eclipse saw their win-loss record go to 36-21. At the same time, the Butterflies fell to 25-31.

In the bottom of the second, Chicago second baseman Dan Moran had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Moran stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 2-0, Chicago. For the game, he went 1 for 5.

"We take it day by day here," said Gilliland, "and today was a good one for us."
