de la Cruz, Jedi Knights Hammer Gnats
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights topped the Nichols Gnats by the score of 12-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Johnny de la Cruz. de la Cruz went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Jedi Knights on the day. The win was credited to Bernd te Nijenhuis in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Luis Herrera took the loss. New Orleans currently is in 4th place in the TMLA Earl Weaver Division at 30-37.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until de la Cruz delivered big-time for New Orleans, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Josh Sponenberg. The game-changing hit put the Jedi Knights on top, 3-2.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," de la Cruz said.
