Saints Get One-Run Win at Sonoma
|
Sonoma wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Roberto Pedroza, losing to St. Paul, 2-1, at Arnold Field. St. Paul reliever Blake Borgelt was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Roberto Pedroza took the loss for Sonoma. Getting the save was Jeremy Waldron, his 19th.
St. Paul used the timely hitting of Alejandro Alarcon to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Saints on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Alarcon. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
The Saints move to 37-25 with the win, while the Scorpions drop to 36-27.
