Gremlins Beaten By Pharaohs, 3-0
|
Nate Westmoreland, who finished 5th in the RCL in ERA with 2.36 in 2057, never let the Gremlins get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Pharaohs to a win, 3-0. The winning pitcher was Westmoreland, now 2-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Kelvin Tolmie earned the save, his 7th, for the Pharaohs.
Seiju Ushijima had a big run-scoring double for the Pharaohs in the bottom of the third inning. With Cairo leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a forkball from fan favorite Greg Hobson and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pharaohs ahead, 2-0.
Ushijima described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
Cairo is now 20-27, Houghton 32-17.
