Reyes Torches Warriors for 5 Hits
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Andres Reyes today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at The Pond, but the performance lost a little luster when the Gnats were downed 6-4 by the Winfield Warriors.
After his glittering performance, the Nichols center fielder told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat."
His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book.
"I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Reyes said.
Andres Reyes hit a solo-shot off Malik Kerns in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 16 games this year Reyes has posted a .259 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
