The El Paso Mavericks defeated the Houghton Gremlins, 9-4, at Golden Goebels Park. El Paso was led by 25-year old second baseman Vincent Herrera, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. El Paso is 5th in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division with a record of 22-26.

El Paso grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Herrera hit a 2-run home run off Chris Crawford. His 6th home run of the season put the Mavericks out in front, 3-1.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Herrera told the El Paso Observer.
