Parker Propels Victoria Offense in 10-3 Rout
|
Behind the hitting of Kevin Parker, the Victoria Vikings defeated the Carmel Apples, 10-3. Parker was 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Vikings. Jermão Corvite, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-0. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 12 and walking 4. With the win, Victoria goes to 32-17, while the Apples fall to 35-14.
Theodore McGillis had a big 3-run home run for the Vikings in the top of the first inning. With Victoria leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Kyle Ott and swatted a home run to center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 5-0.
"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Carmel skipper Hi-yuan Pan.
