Sting Slip Past Bel Air, 6-5
|
The Houston Sting wiggled past the Bel Air Princes, 6-5, at Philip Banks Field. Houston pitcher Carlos Padilla earned player of the game honors. Houston reliever Scott Frank picked up the win to move to 1-2. Jeremy Southern suffered the loss. Mario Ramirez was credited with the save for Houston, his 1st of the season.
Houston used the timely hitting of Angel Ramirez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Sting on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Ramirez.
Houston is now 22-37, while Bel Air is 32-24.
