The Ottawa Civics handed the Nichols Gnats a 6-3 defeat in 12 innings at The Pond. Center Fielder Sam Spurr starred for Ottawa. He went 1-2 with a home run and 4 walks, while scoring 3 runs. The win went to Greg Pond in relief, making him now 3-1. Eddie Enriquez took the loss for Nichols. The Civics, at 38-16, lead by one game in their division.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 12th, with the game tied, Jason Sitterle was at the plate when Ottawa scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Civics to go in front, 4-3.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Spurr.
