Kingwood Edges Charleston in Extra Innings
|
Due in part to right fielder Pat Robb, the Kingwood Knights chopped down the Charleston Panthers, 4-3, in 10 innings. Robb was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Omar Cedeno snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season. The 13-41 Panthers have lost 10 consecutive games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Robb hit a fastball from Tommy Tyler for a run-scoring single. The Knights, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Said losing manager Harry Howell: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."
