Panthers Score Late, Upend River Bandits, 5-3
|
The Charleston Panthers defeated the San Antonio River Bandits, 5-3, at Dr Pepper Stadium today. Leading the charge for Charleston was pinch hitter George Campbell. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Charleston reliever Chris Jones was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Brett Conroy took the loss for San Antonio. The Panthers saw their win-loss record go to 20-30. At the same time, the River Bandits fell to 30-22.
Charleston took a 3-2 lead on Campbell's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Brett Conroy in the top of the eighth, propelled Charleston to the win.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Charleston manager Kinnojo Hara said afterward.
