Knights Shimmy Past Lawmen, 4-3
|
Marshall got a terrific performance from pitcher Harry Morin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kingwood Knights. Kingwood won the Stable Park contest, 4-3. Morin threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Kingwood pitcher Walt MacNevin earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Andy Gardner suffered the loss. Kingwood bumps their record to 12-31 with the win.
John Koch was the walk-off hero for Kingwood. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knights designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Koch.
