Knights Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Pelicans
|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman Kai Geyer, the St. Petersburg Pelicans suffered a 7-4 loss to the Kingwood Knights. Geyer was 3-4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Steve Young picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-2. He struck out 8 in 6.1 innings. Kyle Jackson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.
Jorge Vela came through for the Knights in the top of the second inning. With Kingwood leading 2-0, the third baseman had a 2-run single.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Vela told the Kingwood Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
With the win, Kingwood goes to 24-24, while the Pelicans fall to 18-32.
