West Virginia Stopped, 10-7, by Houston
West Virginia got a terrific game from second baseman Forrest Backstrom. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Houston, 10-7. Backstrom went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Cris Cantu finished to wrap up his 1st save. With this game in the books, Houston is 30-17, West Virginia 10-37.

Houston third baseman Alex Rodriguez helped the Sting go up, 9-7, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Rodriguez hit a 2-run single off West Virginia pitcher Donzel Albertrani.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Rodriguez told the Houston Herald.
