Jedi Knights Stay Hot, Beat Vikings

Both teams had their chances, but the New Orleans Jedi Knights eventually prevailed at The Republic.
New Orleans pitcher Mike Garon did his part in helping his team beat the Victoria Vikings, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Reliever Alvaro Morales picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Tony Donis took the loss. Sean Mapson was credited with the save for New Orleans, his 12th of the season.
Rafael Cortes drove in one run for New Orleans. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tony Donis. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
After the game, New Orleans manager Jake Tinker applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
New Orleans now has a 5-game win streak.
