Pharaohs Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Montreal Jazz got a superb performance from pitcher Oscar Alfaro. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cairo. The Pharaohs won the game, 2-1. Alfaro threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Tony Perkis, the winner, goes to 4-4. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts over 8 innings. The save was credited to Morgan Henn, his 9th.
Cairo went in front, 2-1, on Urge Bira's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Bira hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Logan Evans visibly perturbed.
"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Bira said.
After today's action, Cairo sits at 19-27; Montreal slips to 19-26.
