River Bandits Turn Back Bel Air, 7-5
|
The San Antonio River Bandits had to overcome a big game from Bel Air second baseman Mackenzie Trottier to leave Dr Pepper Stadium with a 7-5 victory. Trottier went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. San Antonio reliever Jose Maldonado picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Mario Gonzalez shouldered the loss. David Carrasco was credited with the save for San Antonio, his 2nd of the season.
Matt Downs put San Antonio in front, 5-2, when he took Mario Gonzalez downtown. His grand slam home run came with two out in the bottom of the second. It was his 5th home run of the season.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Downs told the San Antonio Observer.
Bel Air has now lost 4 in a row.
