Umlah Spins Shutout
It wasn't easy but the Okanagan Lake Monsters made it look that way.

Starter Doug Umlah shut out the Chippewa River Chiefs despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Okanagan Lake Monsters cruised to victory, 2-0. Umlah allowed only 7 hits and rang up 7 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

This year Umlah has registered 4 wins and 2 losses in 7 starts with a 2.82 ERA while registering 41 strikeouts and 12 walks in 44.2 innings.
