Pelicans Lose, 3-2, as River Chiefs Rally

Chippewa pitcher Danny Grotberg did his part in helping his team beat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner in relief was Victor Ontiveros. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The River Chiefs are now 19-14.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Chippewa. That's when Adam Dixon hit a solo home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Bernie Aguilar to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Grotberg.
