Panthers Come Back Late to Top Scorpions
|
The Charleston Panthers topped the Sonoma Scorpions, 5-3, in TMLA action at Franklin Mountains Field. The player of the game was Charleston pitcher and Anaheim, California native Josh Posch. Reliever Cory Rebhahn picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Dale Finneman took the loss. Tony Luera was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Nate Sides came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sonoma pitcher Dale Finneman, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Charleston on top, 4-3.
Sides told the Charleston Times: "I was born for the big stage."
The last-place Panthers lifted their record to 16-23.
