Saints Get 8-5 Win Versus San Angelo
|
At Saints Ballpark, the San Angelo Mustangs and St. Paul Saints were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
St. Paul center fielder Justin Stadtlander made his presence felt in the 8-5 Saints triumph over the San Angelo Mustangs. Stadtlander went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Iukekini Makuakane, the winner, improved to 2-6. He held San Angelo to 4 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Ed Cruz closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Nate Sawyer had a big 3-run home run for the Saints in the bottom of the fourth inning. With St. Paul trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Huerta and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Saints on top, 3-2.
In comments to the St. Paul Bulletin, Stadtlander admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
St. Paul has a record of 13-24, placing them 5th in the TML HA Dick Williams Division.
