Sting Pull Even With 5-1 Victory
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the Houston Sting and Eugene Emeralds clash at Prefontaine Park.
The exploits of second baseman Chris Bernick, who is tied for 7th in the RA in stolen bases with 9, helped the Houston Sting defeat the Eugene Emeralds, 5-1. Bernick was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Elijah Turner in relief. His record improves to 4-0. John Davis took the loss.
Houston used a timely hit from Kurt Dunham to get the win. The left fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Sting on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Dunham called the win "a collective effort."
Houston has 3 straight wins, Eugene 4 straight losses.
