7-1 Loss Extends St. Petersburg Losing Streak
The exploits of shortstop John Downey, who is tied for 8th in the RHA in bases on balls with 29, helped the Moose Jaw Warriors defeat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 7-1. Downey went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Edgar Monterroso picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Kai-shek Yang suffered the loss. Moose Jaw is now 20-16. St. Petersburg is 4-32.

The Warriors got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jeff Smeltzer. For the game, Smeltzer was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Moose Jaw a 2-1 lead.
