Beckman Excels, But Magicians Win
Runs were plentiful at Saints Ballpark.

The St. Paul Saints could not turn a fine performance from left fielder Butch Beckman into a win. Instead, the Baltimore Magicians prevailed, 16-14. Beckman slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 4 and driving in 4. Tony Cortes, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2.

Baltimore took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 12-12, when Azregh Kamoga hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Magicians in front, 13-12.

"This game had a little bit of everything," said Kamoga.

The loss drops St. Paul to 8-21.
