The Eureka Hornets defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 6-4, at The Nest. Eureka second baseman Brian Carr had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Eureka reliever Jason Leffert picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Monty Brewster was saddled with the loss. Matt Acrey earned the save for Eureka, his 12th of the year.

Eureka took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Patrick Powell hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Hornets in front, 5-4.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Carr. "And not try to do too much."

Eureka is in second place in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division with a record of 33-19.
