Scorpions Turn Back Lake Monsters, 5-3
|
The Sonoma Scorpions and Okanagan Lake Monsters completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Okanagan Lake Monsters got a superb performance from center fielder Angelo Espinoza, but the Sonoma Scorpions still won the game, 5-3. Espinoza was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Sonoma reliever Rick Scandariato picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jon Richard suffered the loss. Satoshi Kawaguchi closed it out for his 4th save.
Steve McElhiney was a prime factor in the win for the Scorpions. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, the 24-year old shortstop hit a 2-run double. He went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," McElhiney said after the game.
The Lake Monsters drop to 15-16 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2044 season.
