Multi-HR Day for Patino as Panthers Overpower Saints, 7-6
|
The Charleston Panthers turned back the St. Paul Saints, 7-6, at Saints Ballpark. Diego Patino was named player of the game for his fine performance. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Mo Davies, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 2-3. Tony Luera recorded the save for Charleston, his 1st of the season.
Charleston relied on the hitting of Matt Proffer to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Panthers on top, 3-0. For the game, Proffer had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said St. Paul manager Pedro Gonzáles. "The effort was great."
The Panthers are off to a tough start, getting just their 12th win in 32 games.
